Description
This tree is sometimes called “Palo Loco” (crazy tree). My guess is that this is due to the unique contrast between the beautiful, fragile-looking, flowers. The flowers begin as large bulbs about the size of walnuts and a slender stem first begins to extend outside followed by long slender petals. The tree is a bright sap green hue with a very wide base that tapers greatly as it reaches a height of thirty feet. The lower part of the tree trunk will contain many large Rhino-like horns for thorns. Some of the thorns may have a base of six inches in diameter and reach a height of twelve inches with very sharp peaks.
